About Me

My photo
Hello! I'm a first time boston terrier owner and our little Meatball will be going on lots of fun adventures with this active family! I'm a teacher, wife, and mother of a smartie pants little girl. I love working out, taking pictures, reading, scrapbooking, crafting, trying out new restaurants and exploring the outdoors with my family. I'm in love with Meatball and love making memories with him. I hope to learn more about Boston terriers and interesting places to connect with other fun loving people.

Cake Adventure For A Good Cause

This weekend Meatball and I traveled to Kansas to check out Parami Pets.
It's conveniently located on a long strip of unique shops and restaurants in Mission Kansas. We joined a boston terrier group there to have a playdate and collect supplies for Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, a non profit organization. What a great place! This pet store has been open since 2014 and provides grooming services, and now doggie daycare. I would give them 5 stars for sure! They carry the very best in dog food including my favorite,
Fromm, which is a family owned food company made right here in the great USA. Parami Pets is owned by a very nice family, who makes sure to get to know their customers. Their new daycare room is spacious with durable floors, and even a couch for dogs to rest and play on. Meatball was a little overwhelmed by all his bostie friends, but started to come out of his shyness after a little while. We celebrated BT Olivia's 6th birthday with a doggie carrot cake from 3 Dog Bakery. They loved the cake! It was great to meet and talk with other boston terrier owners. Meatball won for the youngest bostie there!

Enjoying those cake crumbs!

Shopping

Meatball went on a shopping trip to Petsmart! It was so hard to find anything that fits his little neck. We found a cute but comfy harness that he can grow into soon. He was enjoying himself walking down the aisles and meeting and greeting everyone…even the kitties waiting for homes.
On a cold day we have to find indoor places to explore.
With a young puppy what do you think... a collar or harness?

Pinterest got me

So this happened…Not an adventure for Meatball but for me! It's amazing what ideas you can get from Pinterest. I just combined a couple ideas I saw and watched a couple tutorials then sewed Meatball a couple outfits. He looks handsome! We gotta start him on wearing cute clothes while he's young, right?!  He's thinking- "really mommy?!"     I almost  bought him a coat but he's going to grow out of it so fast that I didn't want to spend the money. I'll break down eventually…. What's the most you have ever spent on your fur baby?

Apparently Americans spend 60 billion on their pets!

Adventure No. 1

It's unusually warm in Kansas City for Feb. 20th and we will take it! Hello Sunshine! Meatball went on a picnic to Crows Creek in Smithville Lake. Smithville Lake is a man made lake that is just 20 minutes away from downtown Kansas City. It's 7,200 acres and 175 miles of shoreline that is owned by US Army Corps of Engineers since 1907. It's definitely a hidden jewel and we try to take advantage of it when we can. He explored rocks, sticks, mud, and lots of other things. I'm hoping he will love the water. He was sooooo tired after a long day of fun!
Finally nap time!

Picking a stick just the right size.

He wasn't quite sure about the water…Does your dog enjoy the water?

He's Here!

He's here! We were so surprised at how tiny he still was. 8 weeks is small and adorable! His personality so far is very sweet and layed back. He loves to cuddle and take naps but he is also a curious little guy who likes to chew and chase. He was a little overwhelmed at first with all the visitors and new sights and sounds. I think all our neighbors flocked over to our yard at some point (so lots of little hands on him)and he experienced potty and play on grass for the first time. So far he seems to understand that outside is for potty even though he had a few accidents.
We survived the first night! He really likes his crate, pen and bed and has no problem staying in there. He woke up twice in the middle of the night to let me know "hey I went potty and it's dirty in here!" So he went potty outside,I cleaned his
"room" and he went back to sleep. His vet visit this morning went great. I learned that he weighs 3 pounds! He's a little chunker!
Enjoy the pics of his first day, I can't stop taking pictures of him!

Waiting patiently...

Excited like a new mama waiting for her baby! I’ve been learning so much about the boston terrier breed while we wait for our puppy. I feel almost guilty that I didn’t inform myself as much with our first dog Peanut. Peanut was a Jack Russell terrier and we had our crazy moments with him! We knew nothing about the breed, just that he was cute! He was a very energetic guy that loved life and was always up for an adventure. He went to heaven this October at 11 years old, but we will always have great memories of him. I’ve been reading many books about boston terriers and searching websites and blogs such as the boston terrier forum, ibostonterrier.com and other blogs. I have stalked many facebook BT groups and even bostie’s that have their own facebook page! I’m most nervous about doing that whole potty training thing again while working full time but I’m off  during summer months so that helps.

Yippee! For new puppy’s and potty training! I’ve read lots about crate training so I think I’m ready…maybe! Let me know what advice you have that has worked well for you on potty training…
Thanks! EC
